The presentation was made by Board Secretary Kimberly Ramocan on behalf of UK based founder and Director Beverley Chung. EPOCC is a UK based charity that was formed in 2015 to support abused children in Jamaica and children in need. The main project of the charity was to provide a telephone counselling service – “Childline Jamaica”. However, after 5 years of our efforts, this proved to be unsustainable. Therefore, the remaining funds have been directed to assist children in need to access education by funding scholarships in partnership with International Proxy Parents (IPP), beginning with 3 children over a minimum of 4 years.
The children will be chosen from Vere Technical High School, Papine High School and Tacious Golding High School. These schools are three of the schools in which IPP already have a presence. The students will be selected from Grade 7 and in order to qualify, they must have a proven track record of academic excellence and be in demonstrable financial need.
