CPC visits Point Hill Basic School – April 2013
On April 10th 2013 the Community Projects Committee (CPC) travelled to Point Hill, a rural community in the hills of St. Catherine. After a pleasent hour and a half bus drive we reached the school. We were greeted by Mrs. Henry, the principal, the teachers and the sweet kids. We observed the back yard in which Mrs. Henry wants us to help her erect a playground. However, the slope makes it necessary to do some work in order to create a levelled area. The students performed some songs for us and we gave them little presents from a donation by Megamart. We then visited the neighbouring Diagnostic Centre where we were pleasently surprised to find an up-to-date computer library with a very enthusiastic manager-instructor. To end our trip we were royally hosted by Jane and Howard Taylor at their gorgeous garden and home for our picnic lunch, and were treated to drinks and cake and superb views.
CPC visiting Homestead Place of Safety – February 2013
We received a warm welcome from the girls and staff of Homestead Place of Safety as we interacted with them in groups. They also loved our little presents and snacks.
Official Handing-over of the new tiled floor at Maxfield Park – January 2013
On January 16, 2013 we gathered to cut the ribbon for the re-tiling IPP carried out thanks to a generous donation from the German Embassy. The German ambassador H. E. Josef Beck cut the ribbon with IPP president Vered Saldinger. The tiling was done in Decemeber, and the area which was re-tiled included the dining room, kitchen corridor, bedroom and showers.
